Friday prayers Iranian style!

On Friday July 17 thousands of people gathered in and around Tehran University to show their support for their elected candidates who were present at the main arena. As part of that they participated in the Friday prayers. The mixed-sex prayer has never been seen before! Simultaneously, the armed militia, the Basij and plain-clothes men attacked the peaceful crowd with teargas, peppergas, batons and even water hoses. The number of injured and detained is unknown. So far it has been reported that Ms Shadi Sadr, a prominent human rights lawyer was kidnapped in front of horrified on-lookers. While trying to resist, her Islamic robe was torn, her veil taken off and she was dragged into a van, while being beaten and the van sped off.
