We now know, her name was Neda. A university sutdent.
Neda has now joined the line of those women who were killed fighting in the Constitutional Revolution a hundred years ago; women fighting during the 1953 CIA Coup in Iran; fighting as undergound guerrillas against the Shah's regime during the 1960s and1970s; fighting during the 1979 revolution to topple the 2500 years monarchy; fighting against the theocratic regime which took to the power and stayed in power for 30 long, long years.
Neda is now a symbol, an emblem, an evidence to the brutalities of a regime which has reigned Iran through suppresion, detention and crimes against humanity and all IN THE NAME OF GOD!
WE SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Hey, you Neda
my precious girl
look at the expanse of the sky
and the chirping of
swallows
calling your name
as you depart and leave
us an emblem,
your name.
Hey you
my precious daughter
my blossom
it will not be late
the day
my promise to you
that your murderes
arrive at the
court of justice.
Hey, you Neda
